When your job is basically that of a beauty junkie, you try hundreds of products–from high-end to affordable. Naturally, you get a good idea about what is out there and the products that hold up. So, as someone who has tried a LOT of beauty products from numerous brands, I hereby announce my five favourite budget-friendly products for everyone to try.
1. Miniso Crystal Makeup Brushes, Rs 400 for five brushes
You don’t actually need to spend a ton of money on makeup brushes because even many high-end ones can lose hair, become rough, and aren’t worth the price. This inexpensive Miniso set is such good quality that it blends eyeshadows beautifully and has soft hairs which are easy to clean. What’s not to love?
2. Essence Lash Princess False Lash Effect Mascara, Rs 342
Who knew it was possible to trump the popular and affordable Maybelline mascaras? That too by a product that’s cheaper and better? This mascara is the clump-free answer to all your lash woes because it volumises, separates lashes neatly, and lifts and lengthens them. No wonder beauty gurus everywhere are obsessed with it! The only issue is that it’s usually always out of stock and isn’t easily available in India.
3. Wet N Wild Photofocus Foundation, Rs 599
If you need a medium-coverage foundation which gives radiant but not dewy payoff, this is the product. Despite being thick and giving good coverage, it looks skin-like and is amazing for making it look glowing in pictures. Plus, it also covers my acne and doesn’t look cakey.
4. L.A. Girl Pro Conceal HD, Rs 595
As similar to the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer as it can get at this price point, this liquid concealer is gold. Perfect for covering each dark circle, blemish, and “problem area”, this is one of the most affordable yet effective products. The best part is that you get so many shades that finding the right colour for colour-correcting dark circles is a cakewalk. Pro tip: Leave this concealer on for ten minutes before blending to get better coverage.
5. Zara Apple Juice EDT, Rs 790
A dead dupe for Chanel’s Chance perfume, this rose and apple-scented concoction is perfect for lovers of crisp, feminine, and powdery perfumes. While the longevity is average at best, it works beautifully when layered over perfume oils, especially rose-scented ones.
